Enrollment Overview and Registration Steps

To complete the registration please make sure you have the following documentation.

  4. Current Utility Bill that shows location of service
  5. Notarized statement of Owner - Rental Agreement that shows names of people living with them and anticipated length of time.

  7. Parent - Guardian Identification
  8. Proof of Immunizations
  9. Proof of Guardianship
  10. Name - Address - Phone Number - Fax/e-mail of Previous School
  11. If Applicable - List of Services your Child - Children Receive

REQUEST FOR SUPERINTENDENT'S AGREEMENT

Acknowledges you understand that if this placement is approved by the Superintendent of Schools, it will be for one year at a time. 


Application for renewal must be made annually.  It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to seek enrollment of the student unless the student is 18 years of age or older.  This agreement is contingent upon the following conditions:

No additional expenses will be covered by the sending district.


  1. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parent(s)/guardians(s) in accordance with MRSA, Title 20-A, §5204(1).
  2. The student must attend school every day unless properly excused.
  3. The student must complete all assigned work in a timely fashion.
  4. The student’s behavior at the receiving school must be acceptable.
  5. This agreement is signed in agreement by both superintendents.

Chapter 104: Educational Programs for Gifted and Talented Children

SUMMARY: Maine law requires school administrative units to establish educational programs for gifted and talented children by 1991-1992 in the schools of the unit. This rule establishes the gifted and talented education program standards governing each school administrative unit in the state and adopts procedures for ascertaining compliance with all applicable, legal requirements for the establishment, approval, and funding of such programs as authorized by Title 20-A, section 8101, et seq. and section 15603, sub-section 22(c). Definition by the Maine Department of Education Gifted and Talented Children:

"Gifted and talented children" shall mean those children in grades K-12 who excel, or have the potential to excel, beyond their age peers, in the regular school program, to the extent that they need and can benefit from programs for the gifted and talented. Gifted and talented children shall receive specialized instruction through these programs if they have exceptional ability, aptitude, skill, or creativity in one or more of the following categories: 

  1. General Intellectual Ability as shown by demonstrated significant achievement or potential for significant accomplishment above their age peers in all academic areas
  2. Specific Academic Aptitude as shown by demonstrated significant achievement or potential for significant accomplishment above their age peers in one or more academic area(s)
  3. Artistic Ability as shown by demonstrated significant achievement or potential for significant accomplishment above their age peers in the literary, performing, and/or visual arts

NOTE: Children with exceptional General Intellectual Ability and/or exceptional Specific Academic Aptitude usually comprise five percent of the school population. Students with exceptional Artistic Ability usually comprise five percent of the school population. Children in the top two percent of the school population may be considered highly gifted.


School Cancellation Information

In an effort to provide school closing information to you at the earliest possible time, and to cover the entire school district, MSAD 59 is now utilizing the AP Notify Notification system.  AP Notify gives the district the ability to quickly send cancelation and delay notifications to the school community via email, text and voice mail.
